About the Art:

For over a quarter century, countless collage and mixed media works have been based on a single image of a forlorn clown known only as HE. Gleaner has waltzed this trope to the precipice many times, only to discover dozens more variations in the offing. The protagonist's black eyes, absurd attire, hunched posture, all topped with an expression that appears to be both laughing and crying, paint a portrait of a bewildered figure futilely offering answers for which there are no questions.

In this work, the character is struck by a stylized lighting bolt in homage to the iconic shape-shifter, David Bowie.
